Are we done with the snow yet?

Sorry to always be the pessimist, but I just wanted all of my fellow CV bloggers to see these pictures.
This is a 2005 snow storm. It happened on June 6th. Rog reminded me of these pics when I was complaining about the stupid weather we are having. I still don't want to believe that this could continue for another month+. Yuck!
But on a different note..... isn't Jaelyn so cute, and little.

Late Tag!

I was tagged several weeks ago by Ash to post some things about my kids that others may not know and I am just getting around to doing it.

1.Jaelyn is easy going and will go along with just about anything. She has always been that way. Mackay on the other hand is high strung and knows what he wants, which ='s tantrums. I relate their personalities to the side rail on their bed. When Jaelyn had the rail on her bed, she would slide down in the bed and go around it where Mackay just climbs right over it.

2.Jaelyn has a fetish with kitty cats. She sleeps with 7 different stuffed cats, by name they are Muffin, Chip, Dina, Cindy, Tickle, Dutchess, and Sam. =) She would also sleep with her real (outdoor) cat Alice if I would let her.

Mackay has a Lightening McQueen car that he loves. He loves it so much that he doesn't play with it, he just holds it. He eats and plays with other toys while holding Lightening. It had gotten bad enough that when I would take the car from him to wash his hands, he would cry because his hand has formed around the car (looking like a claw). It had to hurt, so Lightening isn't around much anymore. He shows up in the evening and disappears after Mackay goes to sleep.

3.Jaelyn doesn't like noodles. She won't touch mac and cheese, spaghetti, box noodles or any noodle salad which always presents a problem because Mackay loves any kind of noodle.
I thought every kid loved starch. She will only occasionally eat potatoes, but will eat any vegetable or fruit which Mackay won't touch. Meal time is so fun!

4. Jaelyn has been to Disneyland 8 times. Mackay has been 5.

5.Jaelyn makes friends easily. Sometimes she forces kids we meet in random places to hug her or hold her hand. Mackay on the other hand growls at people he doesn't know, and people he does. I always get such a warm feeling (usually in my face) when Mackay growls at a cute old lady in the grocery store.

6. Jaelyn is almost totally deaf right now. It is so annoying.
She has a ton of fluid behind both of her ear drums, so they aren't
working. She is getting tubes on May 6th.

We have decided that Mackay is an aspiring dentist.
He loves to look in people's mouths. He opens your mouth
by pushing up on your nose.

I love Jaelyn and Mackay soooo much. They keep me on my toes and are always good for a laugh and a hug.

Happy 30th, my love!!!

To celebrate Rog's 30th birthday, I took him on a surprise (wink) trip to Kauai. He never uses his sky miles, so I decided to put them to good use.
We had a great time, alone -( love ya Jae and Mac, and thanks to everyone who helped take care of them while we were gone)

Kauai is beautiful! (And so is Roger - Happy Birthday, Hon! I Love you! Here's to at least 30 more. The best years are yet to come.)

We snorkeled at Poipu Beach and saw a sea turtle. We touched him and he gave Rog a ride. There were also a lot of other colorful fish.

So, after the penny incident ........ We visited Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and City Hall, then it was off the Washington DC to see ALL the sites. It is surprising how close these cities actually are. We really didn't drive that much in comparison to everything we saw.

We were in DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was so pretty to see everything in bloom, even if the sky was constantly overcast. We saw all the sites in DC - Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington Memorials, a couple of Smithsonian Museums, the Botanical Gardens (pic of the kids above), Arlington Cemetery, the DC Temple, the Vietnam and Korea War Memorials and the White House. We even got to see a firework show over the Potomac for the blossom festival. Jaelyn was thrilled to see the original ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz at one of the museums. They looked really uncomfortable.
We had a lot of fun. I look back at our pics and I can't believe we did as much as we did. We (surprisingly enough) even fit in time for the little kids and the big kids to nap. We spent 2 days in DC (we could have spent a month and not seen half of what is there) then headed to Baltimore for a day before we flew out. Baltimore is actually a pretty fun city. They have a part of the city called Inner Harbor with a lot of shops and restaurants, water taxis and an aquarium.
OK, just talking about the trip is making me tired. Good night all!

Our Trip Back East.

We started out our trip in New York City. We had fun walking the busy streets, riding the subway and buying souvenirs. We took a bus tour on an open air bus. It was sunny, but 33 degrees. We were happy to get off and get our blood circulating. We saw wall street, the World Trade Center Site, Rockafeller Center, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. My mom and I went to the musical Wicked. It was sooooo good. I am already bugging Rog to take me to Chicago to see it again.

We also wanted to make sure to see the Manhattan Temple. It was ~2 blocks away from Central Park, so we took the kids into the park to ride the Carousel and play at the playground. They did really well throughout the trip. We just had to make sure to make time for playing and an occasional nap.
Our next destination was Atlantic City. It was about a 2 hour drive from NYC. The kids were entertained with chocolate and Caliou (we watched the bald kid over and over - poor Grandpa and Grandma).
We didn't do any gambling in AC, but we enjoyed the beach. It wasn't as cold as it looks. The kids liked looking for shells and so did Grandma. We brought a big bag of them home. The city is dead this time of year, so we got right into a restaurant for dinner. It was a BBQ place. We ordered our meals and enjoyed the food, but when we got the bill, we were surprised to find out that the Cokes that Rog and I ordered were $4 each. Now we know how they stay in business during the off season. Thanks dad!
One of the most exciting parts of the trip happened during the drive between AC and Philadelphia which is an hour drive. Roger was talking on the phone with a Rite Aid guy when we all heard Jaelyn start puking. Rog said, "I've got to go, my kid is puking". I was driving and pulled over really fast. When we got her out of the car she said, "I don't know what to do", and she kept reaching in her mouth and vomiting. Then she said, "I swallowed the penny and it hurts, I don't know what to do". She was crying and very upset. Once we gave her a drink, she said it didn't hurt anymore. She was pretty scared and wanted the penny out. We told her it would come out in a couple of days and sure enough it did. 2 days later in Washington DC that penny came through. She was soooo happy that, "I don't have a penny in my belly anymore". She wanted us to feel her belly so we knew that it was out. What an experience. We were glad everything(the penny) worked it's way out with no problems. Thanks for your dirty work Rog =)

Where have you been?

I've been behind on my blogging lately because we have been out of town. We took my cute parents back east for a week. We went to NYC, Washington DC, Atlantic City, Philadelphia and Baltimore. We had a great time, but we are all still trying to recover from a busy week. More pics to come. This picture was taken on the top of the Empire State Building.
