Our little graduate!

Jaelyn graduated from her 1st year of preschool yesterday. I didn't have the heart

to tell her she still has 13+ years of school before college.
But those 13 years will give us some time to save for college =)

This is Jaelyn's teacher, Karla. She has been so good to Jaelyn. Jae is excited to return to Karla's preschool next fall for another year.

I am very mindful of the fact that Mackay has been overlooked in my recent blogging history, but he is still a happy little boy - most of the time. I took him to the Dr. just before Jae's graduation - he has his 5th ear infection since January, so it looks like he will also be getting tubes in the next few weeks. I have also started potty training him which is a bit of an adventure. Mackay won't tell me that he needs to go potty, he just holds it until I take him (and he can hold it for a long time). So as long as I take him every 4 hours or so, he is potty trained. If I forget then he isn't. He is even dry most mornings. I am just waiting for that moment when I hear "Mama, potty" - because I am assuming that is how he will say it. :)

The Rose Bush Wins

Have any of you ever fallen in a rose bush? Jaelyn did last night.
Today she told me that, "Everyone falls in roses bushes, and I don't
really want to do it again." Hmmmmm, smart kid=)

A Mother's Day Thank You!

When Roger asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day last week, I told him that I would like a 'bleeding heart' plant to put in the yard. He got it for me and we had a really fun Mother's Day. The kids made me breakfast in bed and we had my family over for dinner. It wasn't until today when I was outside mowing the lawn that I realized that I had gotten my Mother's Day present about a month ago.

This play-set was just as much a gift for me, as it was for Jae and Mac. They needed some outside entertainment that would keep them in the back yard. I basically had to beg Rog for it, since he didn't want to put anything in the back yard (fearing it would interfere with his future football/soccer field). It doesn't take up that much space, and I am so happy to have it.

I know some pretty awesome Mothers who are great examples to me. My mom, of course - who never stops teaching me new things, and reminding me to be patient and to look on the bright side. My girl friends and the women in my family who are experimenting (along with me) at this thing we call motherhood. And those who are paving the trails of motherhood (Kelly, Meisja, Marla, Diane F., Mom and Diane R.) that give me faith that if I keep trying, my kids will turn out just fine.
I couldn't make it without my family and friends. Thanks again for being great examples.

Here is my little girl. She got tubes put in her ears this morning. You may be asking yourself why this girl looks so bad, like she has been beat up by someone. She has had severe eye allergies this past week which the doctor said has turned into a conjuctivitis. She looked sooooo bad this morning. While Jaelyn was asleep for the surgery he gave her a shot of a steroid
to help the eyes, and she will be getting ear drops and eye drops for the next week. The actual tube surgery went well, the fluid in her ears was so thick - Dr. Wood called it 'glue ear'.
Here are couple of different statements Jaelyn has said since she has been home,
"I can hear a lot better".
"Mackay is loud".
"I can hear bees buzzing and Alice purring".

Here are some things that she usually says that I haven't heard today.
"What".
"What did you say".
"I can't hear you" .
"Hmmm" or just no response at all.

I am excited that I won't have to yell at her (just to have a normal conversation) anymore and that the tv can be turned down. It will be a lot more quiet around here especially if Mackay senses that change in volume=)
I am so relieved that the surgery is over and that Jaelyn is doing considerably better already. Love ya Jae.
